The aim of training at the field of study for administration is to prepare graduates for executive and managerial functions in the broadly defined administration. Students explore issues closely related to the sphere of public administration activities and learn about the disciplines of legal knowledge.
The curriculum and study plan fulfil the key strategic objectives of the PSW: to educate qualified human resources to meet the needs of the local and national labour market by imparting the necessary knowledge and specific practical skills as well as social competences in line with the current demand and trends on the labour market. Bearing in mind also the necessity of shaping a civic society, the Pomeranian University strives for the broadest possible integration with the local and regional community by strengthening among students civic attitudes of involvement and responsibility for public affairs, preparing them to perform important social roles. The curriculum and learning outcomes for the Administration degree are in line with the expectations of employers in the region. They are also based on models used at other European universities and key documents of the European Commission and the Republic of Poland.
The concept of education in the field of administration is in line with the needs of the socio-economic environment and the local labour market. The study of administration is closely linked to cooperation with local government, as well as to the profile of the research activities conducted at the Faculty. An important area of research is that on the administrative apparatus, human rights and freedoms or forms of public administration. The latest results of scientific research are included on an ongoing basis in the curricular content presented to students in individual subjects.
Graduates of first degree studies are qualified at level 6 of the Polish Qualification Framework with knowledge, skills and social competences corresponding to the general characteristics of the second degree of the Polish Qualification Framework. Graduates are equipped with knowledge of administration, including public administration and internal security administration, which they can deepen during second-cycle studies at PSW. The degree programme in administration is interdisciplinary in nature, which means that employment in many different sectors awaits graduates. The studies provide comprehensive preparation for participation in the administration process in the public, non-governmental and private sectors. They also combine traditional, theoretical administration with an innovative approach that takes into account the current needs and expectations, especially of local government units and the open labour market.
Graduates of the Administration programme obtain a Bachelor's degree and are prepared to undertake second-cycle studies.
