    In addition to the many types of state security that are present in the discussions of theoreticians and practitioners, there are also those that, despite differences in interpretation, have become permanently enshrined in scientific studies, laws and documents used in the day-to-day activities of state institutions. One such example is local security, which is an integral part of state security, taking into account the spatial criterion concerning the level of counties and municipalities. It encompasses, in appropriate proportions, such elements of state security as systemic security, general security, personal security and public safety and order. Importantly, it also takes into account the specific conditions of the local community: geographic, economic, social, political and cultural, covering additionally the following aspects: the type of threats occurring, their area and intensity, as well as local needs, problems or opportunities for social activity.
    It should be noted that the ongoing search for optimal solutions regarding local security, its conditions and contexts is continuous and will probably always continue. They concern the ongoing activities of local government administrations, services, inspections, non-governmental organisations, the armed forces and academia. This search, in relation to universities, is a consequence of their mission, related to the practice of science and the fulfilment of their servant role towards society.
    Engaging in discourse in the area of local security is the domain not only of the world of science, but also of practice, because existing them separately loses the meaning and purpose of cognition. The world of science cannot exist without the real world, the fragments of which are the object of cognition of scientists, constantly investigating and explaining its reality. Reflections in the area of local security therefore serve to define, systematise and improve the systems that ensure this security, and enable the proper organisation of their interaction. The implementation of coherent scientific and practical actions should improve the quality of local security. It is the above messages that underlie the organisation of the 1st International Scientific Conference "Security of the modern state. Problems of local security taking into account governance, the role of administration, education and local energy security".
    The objectives of this Conference revolve around the analysis of the conclusions of scientific research, views and opinions of representatives of scientific centres both from Poland and abroad, as well as the exchange of experiences of practitioners, i.e. representatives of local security entities and institutions related to its provision.
    The conference is planned to be attended by scientists from, among others, Ukraine, Slovakia, Bulgaria, France, Lithuania or the United Arab Emirates, as well as representatives from institutions involved in ensuring safety in Starogard County, namely: Starogard Gdański Poviat Starosty, Starogard Gdański Town Hall, Starogard Gdański Poviat Fire and Police Headquarters, Starogard Gdański Detention Centre, Starogard Gdański State Poviat Sanitary Inspector in Starogard Gdański and the 7th Pomeranian Brigade of Territorial Defence in Gdańsk.

Man as an object of study in the humanities and social sciences

We would like to invite everyone to join us in reflecting on the multifaceted development of contemporary science making the human being central to its reflection and enriching reflections on individuals and social groups with topics relevant to their past, present and future. We would like the conference to be a space for scholars and practitioners pointing out interesting fields of debate about man, but also an opportunity to exchange opinions and positions on the development and future of the social sciences and humanities.
Modern science makes the human being the subject of its research and his or her behaviour the object of empirical inquiry. In explaining the causes of behaviour, it makes use of specialist contexts, which are firmly rooted in a single discipline, or, on the contrary, sees in the interdisciplinary network the opportunity to gain a broader perspective on factors related to human functioning in different spheres. Thanks to its numerous theoretical concepts and the developing possibilities for the scientific verification of assumptions, it provides both insight into human history, analysis of changes in social reality and forecasting of the future, taking into account a number of levels of insightful inference.
The dramatic events of recent years call for a relentless diagnosis of the role of man in the modern world, as well as an interpretation of the effects of the phenomena and processes of which we are the recipients. The dynamics of change makes evident the necessity of not sticking to established patterns and creates a field for getting to know the human being in completely new facets of his/her actions, interactions or experiences. In analysing current scientific discourses, as well as practical activities, we are also mindful of classical accounts of human nature that have their roots in the history of the social sciences and humanities.

Recent years have been a real challenge for education and those employed in the sector. Dynamic changes have touched the foundations of school management and educational projects. Remote learning has been built from the ground up by modifying the entire system - from deconstructing existing ways of teaching, searching for new didactic means and creating a platform for contact between students and teachers that corresponds to modern times. Teachers' attitudes towards professional tasks have also been transformed. Continuous reflection and curiosity, the desire to acquire key skills and plan for professional development, the search for links between aspirations and the personal potential involved in the teacher's tasks have never been more evident than today, in the modern school.
Embarking on the path of transformation means looking for innovative ways of carrying out traditional tasks, as well as constantly thinking about the future of schools and educational institutions. It also changes the role of teachers in the education process. On the one hand, they focus on existing processes that require attention, commitment and professional qualifications.
On the other hand, they are confronted with completely new needs and problems of students, educational and child-rearing environments, but also their own dilemmas or original professional interests.
To meet the needs of today's teachers and professionals involved in the upbringing of young generations, we have created an educational space to update knowledge and acquire new psychological and pedagogical competences through:
- Participation in the symposium 'Compendium of the teacher - psychological and pedagogical aspects of the work';
- familiarisation with the monograph "Compendium of the teacher - psychological and pedagogical aspects of work";
- delivery of free e-courses relating to contemporary issues in education https://kompendiumnauczyciela.eu/;
- meetings to exchange good practice and develop skills.

This time we would like to invite teachers and people working in the field of education to a Symposium at the Pomeranian University in Starogard Gdański. The meeting will be an opportunity to participate in thematic lectures and discussions on the problems of contemporary education.
The international project 'Teacher's Compendium - Psychological and Pedagogical Aspects of Work' is implemented within the framework of the Erasmus plus - KA2 - Cooperation for Innovation and Exchange of Good Practice, Partnerships for Digital Education Readiness. The organisations that make up the project come from 4 countries, allowing for a multidimensional and in-depth approach to the topic of education. They are: Foundation of the Polish Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities (Poland), Polish Academy of Social Sciences and Humanities (UK), Consiglio dell'Istruzione in lingua Polacca in Italia (Italy), Associacio Cultural Escuela Polaca (Spain).

In the programme:
Presentation of the project Compendium of a teacher - psychological and pedagogical aspects of work - Aleksandra Jędryszek-Geisler

What could be an alternative to the traditional school textbook? How can historical sources of information be used for the development of pupils and students? One answer is the innovative approach to education of Dr Isidora Sáez-Rosenkranz and Paula Fernandez, who have created an open historical archive. The authors of this unique innovation will be guests at a meeting at the Pomeranian College in Starogard Gdański. They will talk about how the archive can support teachers in using a variety of sources and also promote the use of open resources. They will reveal how, thanks to the archive project, they can work with historical memory by presenting sources relating to events and the everyday life of various social and ethnic groups.
